Speaking Her Language...

"I need something to placate my lower extremities." said My Lady as she woke from a sound sleep. It was 2 in the morning. "Yes, I will ask the nurse to bring you a Tylenol for your legs." Wow, My Lady may be half asleep; but she has full access to the English language!

You Want What?

Well, it is eleven pm on a Tuesday night and My Lady is asleep in bed. We are in a Nursing Home and it is totally dark in here in her bedroom, except for the flickering light from a TV on the dresser. My Lady lifts up her head and looks straight at me, tells me I look good and tells me that she is having trouble with E Major. She asks me if I start (playing) with the second finger for E Major. Who the dickens knows that except her daughter, another Julliard violinist; but I am not going to call her right now to find out! I tell My Lady, "I think so." She tells me "to think on it awhile" and leans her head back down and begins snoring... (?)
I guess that is better than last week when she asked me to buy some material so she could make some bathing suits. I just looked at her. She said, "Well, are you going to go?" So I said "Okay" and stepped outside her vision. Mind you, it was 2am. Night time brings out the best in us.

Best Tossed Salad I Make...

Okay, imagine this.
I take out my new Christmas super-duper knife and my cutting board in the kitchen to chop bite-size pieces of Butter lettuce, bell pepper and baby spinach. I take a Romano tomato, cut it in half and cube it. I toss this in the Tupper Ware bowl where I have already tossed the other items. I take a few chick peas, frozen green peas and kidney beans that I have rinsed and toss them in the bowl. I add (notice I quit using the word, toss, but "you know") ...I add a few red seedless grapes for a touch of sweetness. I add very little shredded adagio cheese for an added sharp bite and some Tajin seasoning that I brought back from Texas. I use this wonderful knife, move my fingers out of the way (don't ask) and chop about four white whole mushrooms and add to the mixture. I take some already cooked grilled white chicken from the freezer, thaw for a minute in the microwave and add to the mixture. I get the Kraft Thai Peanut Dressing and half as much Kraft Light Balsamic Dressing and add it to the mixture. The best combination.
I put ice in a baggie and put this and my salad in a thermos sleeve someone gave me. Keeps the salad cold. Boy, am I ready for dinner at the Nursing home tonight.
I arrive on time but My Lady is a bit agitated and wants to go to bed. Because of her nervousness tonight, I have to turn off the light in the bedroom where the Tech has tucked her in. However, I see that I forgot to bring a fork so I quickly go look for a fork in the nurses station but settle for a spoon.
Well, you find me eating this wonderful salad in the dark with a spoon. Yuk! Have you ever eaten salad in the dark? You don't know what you are eating. It is a step worse than eating popcorn or candy at a movie... And, of course, with a spoon...? that took forever because after all these years, I am not sure where my mouth is for the balancing food to go into. I eventually propped the bathroom door open enough to see where the salad needed to go! No comment.

Another Lexi Story?

I threw Lexi's toys in to canvas bag so I could vacuum and use the steam cleaner this morning.
In the photo, she put her whole face in the bag and stood like this for a long time, smelling all her toys. She doesn't get into the trash or knock it over, so she just stood there quietly for minutes... I finally knocked the bag over, she grabbed a toy and took off... Good dog!

YouTube "The Chase"

Let me introduce you to this YouTube video.
While I was watching it, I was totally mesmerized! It took my breath away.
My Lady in the Nursing home was asking me if I wanted her to put her feet on the table...uh..uh..what? I could not pull away from The Chase till I had to stop because these two little white shoes were waving in the air...ha? whoops...

Fish That Tastes Like Chicken

I bought some big chunks of Mahi Mahi frozen fish. I was so excited about trying a new fish. I used some chicken broth, special seasonings and frozen vegetables. I would make a delicious fish soup. I had so much energy that I also decided to clean my fish aquarium at the same time.

Wrong! The more I cleaned the aquarium, the more the fish soup smelled and looked like foul aquarium water. I never realized what a strong fishy smell Mahi has. There was no way I could eat that soup! It smelled like my fish! So... I poured out the liquid, separated the vegetables and gave the Mahi to the dog. Also, do not boil Mahi. The pieces were big, white and tough. No fish bones! Lexi ate the pieces. This fish must have tasted like chicken. ja!
